Meat is considered a delicious delicacy in many cultures.
But what if there were a compromise that could end the clash between meat-eaters and vegetarians?
Surprisingly, there just may be a solution.
Meat alternatives are being created to taste exactly like meat.
Ethan Brown used his family’s savings account to fund his startup company called Beyond Meat.
Beyond Meat uses a broad range of plant protein sources to create a palette of different textures and tastes.
When the company started, Brown discovered two University of Missouri scientists who figured out how to realign plant fibers into a meat-like texture.
The end goal is to create a mass-produced meat alternative that will be used in fast food restaurants and sold at big chains like Walmart.
Here are the 5 reasons to embrace your inner-herbivore and try Beyond Meat.
1. Beyond Meat is healthier
The brand creates products full of clean nutrients such as non-GMO soy and pea protein to eliminate the use of harmful additives.
“People who consume saturated, four-legged fat have a shorter life span and more disability at the end of their lives. Animal products clog your arteries, zap your energy and slow down your immune system” said Michael Roizen, MD, author of The RealAge Diet: Make Yourself Younger with What You Eat.
2. You will help reduce climate pollution
According to the U.S. Environmental Protect Agency, the agriculture industry contributes 24 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions.
Because of the high amount of global greenhouse gas emissions, people are finding ways to reduce the amount of pollutants created, especially by factory farming.
Beyond Meat has discovered a solution that will do just this.
3. Help improve animal welfare
The Animal Welfare Act is a federal law enacted in 1966, created to minimize animal suffering, yet it left out farm animals used in agriculture research.
This allows factory farms to employ abusive practices in order to maximize profits.
To stop funding factory farms, people can try Beyond Meat, a cruelty-free alternative where you can get the taste of meat without having to take any lives.
4. Oh, the energy!
When you have a good nutritional diet, you will generate more usable energy.
Vegetarian diets are free of cholesterol-laden animal products that can cause tiredness and physically slow the body down.
5. Boost your mental health
The British Journal of Health Psychology published a study where nearly 300 young adults completed daily food journals, which included their mood ratings.
Researchers discovered a correlation between a higher intake of produce resulting in more calmness and greater feelings of happiness.
