There is nothing more enjoyable after a hard week of work than watching a good movie in a relaxing theatre.
There are many of these great films coming out in the next few years, and DC has some interesting characters you might want to keep your eyes out for.
In fact, DC has several potential blockbusters that you should be excited to go and see. Many of these films are still early in the works, but there are a few you most likely haven’t heard about yet that are coming within a year.
After the success of DC’s “Joker,” people are finally excited again to see what DC holds for us in their future projects.
Green Lantern
Although the emerald space cop didn’t have a strong first outing on the big screen, with his first film standing with a horrifying 26 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, it is still exciting for a chance to change people’s minds.
The project has taken many forms since it was originally rumored in 2016 with the release of “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.”
As of right now, David Goyer is set to direct the film and also co-write it the film with a famous Green Lantern writer, Geoff Johns.
There is no current release date for the film, and no actor has been cast to star in it.
Birds of Prey
On the opposite side of the spectrum, “Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn” is set to release in February 2020.
A trailer for the film has been released, and features four super heroines going on a crazy adventure to find themselves and to be free of the world that shackles them down.
This film looks incredibly fun and has Margot Robbie reprising her role as Harley Quinn from 2016’s “Suicide Squad.”
The film is set to release Feb. 7February 7, 2020, and star Margot Robbie, Ewan McGregor, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, and Jurnee Smollett-Bell.
The Flash
It has been a difficult trek for the scarlet speedster as many directors have dropped the film, and a lot of rewrites to the script have caused the film to lie in the movie graveyard for years.
Ezra Miller has stayed attached to the film ever since he was cast to appear in 2016’s “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.”
Some further news confirmed that Andy Muschietti will is set to direct the film, which has been written by Christina Hodson.
“The Flash” has no current release date and stars Ezra Miller.
Black Adam
Although the Flash has been held back for several years, Dwayne Johnson has been waiting a decade to become Black Adam.
The original film was in talks around 2010, but it didn’t lead anywhere and only had Johnson for a long time.
However, when DC’s “Shazam” was released last February 2019, everything changed for Johnson’s “Black Adam” film because the character is tied into Shazam’s history.
Johnson has also confirmed that DC’s Justice Society of America will appear in the film.
Currently, director Jaume Collet-Serra and Dwayne Johnson are to begin filming later this year, and “Black Adam” is set to be released in December 2021.
The Suicide Squad
In 2016 “Suicide Squad” was released in 2016and was received with mixed reviews.
And after “Justice League” was released in 2017, DC has decided to work on films that are isolated with little connection to one another.
Thus it was announced that James Gunn, who directed Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy,” would pilot a new film with stars Margot Robbie, Viola Davis, and Joel Kinnaman set to return.
Although not much of the movie has been disclosed, they are currently shooting the film and focusing on a fun version of the characters.
“The Suicide Squad” is set to release in August 2021.
Wonder Woman 1984
Yes, there is a “Wonder Woman” sequel coming very soon in 2020 and you probably didn’t even know it.
Very little marketing has been done for the film, thus far with only a poster and a few images that were released last year.
However, Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman is coming to screens next year with a stunning and colorful new adventure.
The film is standalone and does not connect to the original per se, but brings back several actors and director Patty Jenkins.
“Wonder Woman 1984” is to release in June 2020.
The Batman
“The Batman” is without a doubt the most anticipated DC film right now because it will be giving us a brand new take on the Dark Knight.
Mathew Reeves has been working on this film for a few years and has also written the script for the film. Several casting announcements have confirmed that Robert Pattinson will be taking the mantle of the Bat.
“It’s very much a point of view-driven, noir Batman tale,“ quoted Matt Reeves. “It’s more Batman in his detective mode than we’ve seen in the films.”
“The Batman” is set to release in June 2021.
