Being from New Jersey often gets us a bad rap.
People from other states associate our beautiful state with the GTL and partying of the cast on the “Jersey Shore”.
Those of us who live there know this is untrue – and here are just a few reasons why:
- Every American loves Bruce Springsteen. But being from New Jersey means we love him even more. NJ is where he lives, where he got his fame, and where we can see him at the gym.
New Jersey is also the home to other famous people like Danny Devito, Count Basie, Meryl Streep and Jon Bon Jovi.
- New Jersey has the most, and not to mention best, diners in the country. Need breakfast at midnight? That’s no problem in NJ!
- The beaches in New Jersey are not always what they show on The Jersey Shore but are beautiful beaches on the Atlantic, overlooking New York City.
- New York City and Philadelphia are both just a short commute away. You can live peacefully outside of both cities but still easily travel back and forth by car, ferry or train.
- It’s illegal to pump your own gas. It creates jobs and gives us an excuse to stay in our car when it is cold or raining. It’s a win-win situation!
- We love to shop (and are really good at it)! New Jersey has more shopping malls per square mile than any other state in the country.
- We have pork roll (don’t let anyone convince you to call it Taylor Ham). A pork roll, egg and cheese on one of our state’s delicious bagels is the best meal you’ll ever eat and it’s only made in New Jersey.
