The five best places to get avocado toast in Charleston

If you don’t know what avocado toast is, you must be living under a rock because it is the most popular item on almost every brunch menu in Charleston, S.C., and probably the rest of the world.

This smashed (or sliced) avocado on whole grain bread with a dash of olive oil and sea salt just might be the best thing since sliced bread.

People everywhere are going crazy over avocado toast due to its protein, healthy

monounsaturated fat, and other nutrients such as Vitamins B, C, E, K and potassium.

So for the next time you are craving avocado toast, keep these five restaurants in mind!

The Park Cafe

This hot brunch spot is located at 730 Rutledge Avenue in downtown Charleston and is my absolute favorite.

It’s one of those places you think might be overrated due to its popularity on Instagram until you try it, and then you realize why it’s hyped up.

Park Café’s avocado toast is served with lemon, olive oil and chili flakes on top.

The presentation alone is a reason to try it out.

All of this together gives you the most satisfying meal you will be craving for days after eating.

The Blind Tiger

Is avocado toast ever not filling for you?

If so, you don’t need to worry about that at the Blind Tiger since its avocado toast is served on grilled whole grain wheat with lemon-zested crushed avocados, arugula, tomato, sunflower seeds and house-pickled shrimp.

The house-pickled shrimp adds a unique taste, which brings in avocado toast lovers from all over.

And if you don’t like shrimp, you can get it without and it is still amazing!

Caviar and Bananas

There is nothing worse than when you are craving avocado toast but don’t want to go to a si- down restaurant to get it.

Thankfully, Caviar and Bananas’ helped us avocado toast lovers out and now serves a version that is quick and easy to get but will still make your mouth water!

This is a specialty item only made on the weekends, but it is worth the wait and the $6!

It hits all the right checkmarks. It’s served on grilled sour dough bread with cotija cheese, pickled red onion, radish, fresh herbs, and you can add either egg or citrus grilled shrimp!

Cannon Green

This hidden gem is located on Spring Street.

If you are a local, you have probably walked by this restaurant plenty of times without realizing that one of the best places to get avocado toast is hiding behind the door.

It is known for its atmosphere and aesthetic.

What differentiates this avocado toast from other restaurants in Charleston is the fresh ingredients used – Brown’s Court multigrain bread, lime, harrissa and farm eggs.

The Daily

The Daily, located on King Street, is part coffee shop, part bakery, part café and part grocery with premade foods, boutique ingredients and cookbooks,

It’s trendy, local and a must-go!

And on top of that, they have avocado toast to die for, which can be topped with tomato, fried egg or just plain avocado.
