There’s always that one group of friends who spend a semester abroad together and won’t eeeeever let you forget it.
They’re constantly uploading their abroad experience to Facebook, tossing up a #tbt any chance they can get, repeating the same (sometimes hilarious, but most of the time not entertaining) stories because “you had to be there” to understand, or trying to shove their newly found, multi-cultural wisdom down your throats.
That’s my friend group.
Yes, I am one of those basic abroad girls who comes back and won’t shut up about “when I was abroad,…”.
But I have all right intentions because in all seriousness, going abroad was probably the greatest opportunity and experience of my life, and I highly recommend every college student going abroad if given the chance.
It’s something that will stick with you for the rest of your life.
Studying abroad was an eye-opening experience that broadened my cultural knowledge, encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone to explore and try new things, and see so many different and incredible places I may have never seen if it weren’t for studying abroad.
I know…I’m only 21 years old and I think I can spread wisdom like the Dalai Lama because I lived in Spain for four months.
You don’t have to trust my advice on studying abroad; sometimes it’s not for everyone.
But if you do ever travel to Barcelona, Spain (a.k.a. the greatest place in the world or what others may call heaven on earth), trust me that these are five things you MUST see and do while you’re there.
